Assembly

When you set the temperature on the Bomb Erig, it will remember your settings the next time you power it up.

Once you are done, wait for three seconds to exit the temperature setting. Other modes here include auto heating, which requires you to double-click the button. Long pressing the button as you inhale is for those who would like manual heating.

Focus V Carta takes a different turn. The temperature range here has four presets: the first one is 260oC, the second one is 332oC, the third one is 410oC, and the fourth one is 450oC. Without the app, you can get these presets by pressing the button once. The light indicators will let you know the level you are based on the number of lights.

More precise control requires the app where you can set custom temperature ranges and the duration too. What you don’t get from the Focus V Carta is the ability to switch to auto heating or manual heating.

Vapor Quality

Both e-rigs have the vapor quality that any dabber is searching for. The Bomb Pro utilizes a ceramic 18mm atomizer with 360-degree sidewall heating. The rotatable carb carp helps maximize the burning of the concentrates as you direct the airflow to the glass chamber.

For the Bomb Erig, it takes 20 seconds of preheating before you can get the first hit. In both, lower temperatures give you more flavor, while high ones deliver more clouds while compromising the flavor.

 

The Focus V Carta comes with quartz and titanium metal plates. After testing both variations, the metal delivers more flavor. However, either plate takes a short time (10-20 seconds) to preheat.

The Focus V e-rig also has an atomizer that you can use with dry herbs. It comes as an accessory, though, which you can get on the official website and other authorized e-commerce websites. Whether you are going for the dry version or the wax, this e-rig will always get the job done.

Cleaning and Maintenance

They are both electric dab rigs. That means the units can never go into the water for cleaning. What you need to take care of here are the atomizer, glass and percolator and the airholes.

Both packages include cotton swabs for cleaning the atomizer after every use. Better cleaning can be achieved by dipping the cotton swabs in 90%+ concentrated isopropyl and then cleaning the inner atomizer walls properly (or the plates for the Focus V case).

The glasses and plates are safe to wash with water and soap or by dipping them in isopropyl. Focus V Carta takes maintenance further by including alcohol wipes. You can use them on the glass and the plates.

Battery Life

After a full charge, Bomb Pro will give you 20 sessions. After that, the 2300mAh battery takes an hour or two to charge. In Focus V Carta, there are two 18350 batteries that deliver 1200mAh and 40-50 sessions.

You can charge them in the unit using a USB-C cable. The better part is that you can replace the batteries, which you can buy separately. The ability to change the batteries solves every stoner’s headache: charging the device.

In Bomb Pro, the battery level is displayed on the LED display that shows the temperature. In Focus V Carta, the number of lights tells you the level. Four lights mean it’s full, three for 75%, two for 50% and one for 25%.

Which One Should You Choose?
